Sami was born in Iran and immigrated to the Bay Area after the Revolution 25 years ago . She is a partner in SST Investments, a holding company for real estate development in San Francisco. For many years, Sami volunteered at the public schools attended by her two children. A turning point for Sami came when her involvement with the public schools made her aware of the issues and challenges facing under privileged children struggling in the system.
Sami has volunteered for organizations such as Latino Unidos and Shelter Network on the Peninsula where she lives. She and her daughter Sufi have been volunteering with Home Away’s School House since 2006. Sami also serves on the board of the John Burton Foundation for Children Without Homes.
