Home Away’s Educational Advocacy work is rooted in the belief that education is an effective strategy for ending homelessness and reducing poverty. Home Away spearheaded the development and implementation of San Francisco’s Homelessness Education Plan, an interwoven system of school, community, public sector and family support, that promotes educational access for children and youth who are experiencing homelessness. In addition to strengthening the capacity of school personal to better serve children without stable housing, Home Away’s Parent School School Community Advisor forges collaborative relations between parents, the SF Unified School District
