School House

Homelessness has a direct impact on homeless children’s education. Children without stable housing are twice as likely to repeat a grade and up to 45% do not attend school on a regular basis. The School House is a comprehensive after school learning community for homeless and formerly homeless middle school children that offers educational testing, mental health support, case management, individual tutoring and homework assistance and a diverse array of enrichment activities to promote positive educational and social outcome.

The program accommodates up to fifteen middle-school age children. Three staff members and a dedicated group of volunteers provide academic and social support four days a week as well as summer recreational programming.

Program runs Monday through Thursday 4 -7 PM.

Volunteer Tutors help with homework and educational studies 4:45 – 6 PM.

Volunteer Chef’s of the Day help to prepare nutritious meals 4:30 – 7 PM.
