Volunteering with A Home Away
Thank you so much for your interest in becoming a volunteer at A Home Away From Homelessness. Poverty and homelessness are crises that affect us all, and volunteering is one way to directly contribute to a better community. Our dedicated volunteers make what we do possible!
Our programs are intended to provide a feeling of home for our kids so we limit engagement to volunteers the kids can build relationships with over time. We are currently looking for committed individuals who have an interest in providing ongoing support in the following ways:
- Beach House Companions: bi-monthly. Companions supervise (and participate in) indoor and outdoor play activities.
- Substitute Cooks: as needed, at our School House program. Cooks prepare nutritious meals for approximately 20 students, plus staff and volunteers.
Please fill out our online application, and we will be in touch about scheduling an orientation.
The monthly orientation will provide you the opportunity to learn more about your potential role as a volunteer, have your questions answered, and help you determine if a volunteer position with Home Away is a good fit for you.
All volunteers must attend an orientation, complete a volunteer application, and pass a Livescan prior to your first day of service.
For other ways to support our programs please visit our Partner With Us page.
Group Volunteer Opportunities
Our programs are designed to provide a feeling of home for our kids so we limit direct engagement with the children we serve to individual volunteers who they can build relationships with over time.
However, our School House and Beach House facilities are always in need of special projects, such as painting, landscaping, organizing and deep cleaning. In addition, we welcome volunteers to help with administrative needs such as mailings or assistance with fundraisers. To plan an event for your team, or to learn more about administrative volunteer opportunities, please email email@example.com or visit our Partnership page.
